Officially closer to 30 than to 20. Bring it on.
Saturday was my birthday, and we went shopping and then dropped the girls at Cameron’s brother’s house while we went out to dinner. Cameron also busted out his baking skills and made me a cake, with help from Lessi.

So here are some of the things I managed to get done.
First is the photo-journals I talked about a couple posts ago. Three years of family history compiled and printed - done!

Sheesh, that’s means he’s almost 30 and it doesn’t seem like we can be getting that old! Strange.
For his birthday, Cameron took the day and went snowmobiling! He went with a friend from our ward and they had a super awesome fantastic time. Best snowmobiling experience he’s had so far. And don’t worry, he wasn’t leaving me out. I would have gone if I weren’t 8 months pregnant.
So then he came home and we had a babysitter and went out to dinner. We found a nice Italian restaurant that we’d never been to before. Classy atmosphere and good prices. Yummy.
We waited till sunday to do cake and presents. The cake was certainly NOT a thing of beauty, but it tasted good. I went ahead and put 29 candles one it. When Cameron saw it, he says “You did not...” Yup, I did. Try blowing THOSE out in one breath!

The Wonders of Modern Journaling

At the end of 2007 and 2008 I put together a photo book containing the best pictures we had of the girls from that year. I never print pictures unless they are to put in frames, so this was a great way to at least get the photos off my computer. I did the same thing at the end of 2009, but realized that I wanted to not only put photos in the book, but also take little blurbs from my blog and actually make it into a photo journal of the whole family, not just pics of the girls. I LOVE how it turned out (no it’s not printed yet, but how it turned out on the computer) and I realized that I really should have done that for the other two years.
We’ve been sick the past week and had a lot of staying at home and doing nothing time. So I decided to use that time to redo the previous two years. And I love how THOSE turned out. Then I realized how glad I am for this blog. For the milestones I recorded when Sophie was a baby. I’m so glad that I have stuff written down from when things were actually happening, instead of just trying to remember what the story behind that picture was.
Now i’m faced with the dilemma of making a photo book for the years BEFORE 2007. I have 3 blog entries from 2006. Luckily I did write in my journal a few times after Lessi was born, so I have quite a few milestones written down. But I don’t have nearly as many pictures, certainly not good ones, (have I mentioned how much I love my nikon?) and I’ve been trying to decide how to go about it.
Anyway, I should probably print the 3 books I’ve already built, but that’s gonna cost some bucks, so I haven’t bit the bullet yet. I’m so glad that I have a way of recording the history of our little family. Making those books also made me realize how much I don’t take pictures anymore. So in an effort to be better at that. Here’s the pictures I took today.

I think she fussed about it...4 times? About that. She got over it really quick. Only a week after we first took it away, I was putting her down for a nap, and there was a binkie on top of her dresser, so I scooted it back in the hopes that she wouldn’t see it and get any ideas. But she DID see it, and she proceeded to put her hands over her mouth and say “no binkie! I’n a big girl.” Sweet, that was awesome.
